Giving thanks for 2016
I choose to end 2016 the way I experienced it, one mindful moment at a time—finding the beauty, celebrating the love, and tackling the difficult with positive tenacity. I won’t tag it with a negative hashtag. I won’t count the seconds until I can sweep the entire year under the rug as so many people seem eager to do.

I will remember 2016 for its complexity, honor its lessons, and treasure its joyous and often poignant moments in equal measure.

I will not bury these blessings beneath a mountain of woes. I will not empower the negative with my words. I will not waste the final days, hours, minutes of 2016. Instead, I will welcome every precious second it has to offer and give thanks for having lived it.
